STORY

"After over 18 years working in several management roles in different industries, I felt I wanted to create a project with an impact, a project that could add value to society. I was passionate first and foremost about creating stylish, practical quality bags, while at the same time respecting the environment and its people. I wanted to go a step further, working on innovation, creating a sustainable and vegan fashion brand, collaborating with like-minded people and companies, and having a real positive impact on our world."

Founder of Canussa

Made ethically in spain

We believe it is possible to create fashion under good working conditions and fair trade.

In Spain, we have some of the best leather artisans in the world. By producing in Spain we can reduce our carbon footprint, ensure high quality products and generate quality employment, supporting small and medium size businesses and artisans.

OUR COLLECTION

Merging Durabilty, practicity and style

One of the problems that the fashion industry is causing to the environment is  the amount of waste  it generates. This is mainly due to the consumption of low cost fashion that has created the throwaway fashion culture seen in the past few decades.

At Canussa, we want to promote a responsible consumption by creating products that last for many years.

Our timeless designs allow for our accessories to be worn at any time and during many years. The colours we choose in our designs are easy to combine so they are perfect for a capsule wardrobe.

We firmly want to extend the life of our fashion garments. On top of creating high quality and durable products, we believe it is important for them to be beautiful, but still remain practical.

The more you like them and the more practical you find them the more you will use them. We also love them to be multifunctional so you can wear a Canussa many times at many different occasions, be they formal or casual.

We want you to feel comfortable with a Canussa without compromising your style.

TOWARDS A CIRCULAR FUTURE

We know the future of the economy is circular, and we are working to become a circular fashion brand.

We have already walked part of the path to become circular; we have already worked on eliminating waste and pollution by following a zero waste policy within our production process and we reduce pollution by diminishing our carbon footprint as much as we can and planting a tree for each product we make.

We have also worked with circular products and materials, using recycled textiles where possible, extending the lifetime of our products and collaborating with fashion sharing platforms. We are currently working on regenerating our products at the end of their life.

FABRICS FOR A CLEAN OCEAN

For the interior of our bags and wallets we are using upcycled textile, not just any textile but Seaqual.

SEAQUAL is one of the most certified, earth-friendly fibres in the world. SEAQUAL® YARN is a 100 per cent recycled material with full traceability (DNA tracer inside). It’s a high-quality, recycled polyester yarn made from recycled materials, including post-consumer plastic bottles and plastic recovered from the sea.

That’s why it contributes to preserving natural resources and reducing water
waste in our planet.

For each Canussa bag we’ve used up to 10 plastic bottles, essentially turning used plastic bottles into a higher value, quality product, giving them a second life

MINIMAL CARBON FOOTPRINT

ONE CANUSSA = ONE TREE PLANTED

We care deeply about the planet and creating a business that gives back to nature. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we’re partnering with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every Canussa sold.

Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. We’re honored to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model.

RESPECT FOR ANIMALS

At Canussa we are committed to the use of non-animal-derived fabrics. We’re delighted to have been awarded the coveted ‘VEGAN PETA Approved’ designation.

We are continuously seeking for the most sustainable vegan alternatives to leather. To us durability is key when choosing a fabric, so our products can last for years. The microfiber currently used for the exterior of our accessories is a waterproof fabric ' that looks and feels like natural leather that is washable, light and highly resistant.

The STANDARD Oeko-Tex 10 is an independent testing and certification system that guarantees that the fabric we use has been tested and meets the required criteria to be considered a fabric free of toxic substances that are harmful to our health.

Nevertheless, we are continuously testing and trying new vegan alternatives to leather, to get the latest, most sustainable and high-resistant fabrics available.
